If you are wondering why we are so desperate to move from AWS to Hetzner, here is why
If my analysis is right we will bring this cost down to roughly $12k per year (max).
Now, thats a massive 70% reduction in costs.
For over 6.5 years we have been using AWS for all our infrastructure needs and I have seen a steady increase in the cloud costs month over month, literally. The funny part is from mid 2023 we have not really scaled any infrastructure, just a couple of servers here and there.
I almost feel like AWS is such a rip off.
Just to give you a simple comparison of server costs
AWS m5.2xlarge server with the following specs
8vCPU (Shared) / 32GB Memory
costs $0.384 per hour which means for 30 days it would cost us a massive $276.48 /month and this cost doesn’t include
- Data transfer costs
- Storage costs
- VPC costs
On a Hetzner,
8 vCPU (Dedicated) / 32 GB Memory is just $52 /month
This is f**king dedicated, no one shares this system!!!!!
And, it includes
- A massive 240 GB SSD
- 30TB of data (outgoing), incoming traffic is f**king free!!!
- 1 IPv4 Ip address
- VPC (doesn’t cost any additional money)
